At
the turn of the 20th century, many entrepreneurial American women
were running successful dressmaking businesses that brought the influence
of Paris home. This exhibit assembled over 20 such designs created
by the Shogren sisters of Portland, Oregon. The exhibition also included
four contemporary works created according to the Shogren design process
and an interactive area that allowed visitors to experiment with clothing
design.
